The engineer who cares what the pixels look like.
01 / Day job
I'm a user experience engineer at Planning Center, on Check-ins — the app churches use to check kids and volunteers in every Sunday. Between 2.5 and 3 million people go through it a week, mostly in a two-hour window. I sit at the seam between design and code: I prototype in the real codebase, ship the front-end, and fight for the details that don't show up in a spec.
02 / Nights and weekends
I run Squarehead Creative, a small design-and-build studio, and I'm founding a few things of my own: Holograil, a collectibles marketplace launching in a few weeks; Moor, a personal finance app; and Hype Me, a social app for athletes. I like the part where an idea becomes something you can tap.
03 / How I work
Design in the browser, not about it. Small teams. Real data early. Motion that explains something. I'd rather ship a sharp version of one idea than a soft version of five — though, looking at the list above, I'm still working on that.
